Choose from our selection of crickets, and get just the size and number you need!
Before ordering:
- Please make sure to double check the size you have selected.
- If you are ordering pinhead or 1/8" crickets, they must be sent next day because they are very delicate.
- Please note that if your day/night temperature is above 80 degrees or below 40 degees, we can not
guarantee live arrival. See below for cricket care and
information.
Crickets are the most popular live insect feeder for pet
lizards. If you've ordered from other companies, you'll notice the difference! Our crickets are not exposed
to over-heating or fed a non-nutritious diet. Many other companies do this to
produce crickets faster and bigger, but this will result in unhealthy crickets. We take
pride in our quality crickets, which are grown in their natural life-cycle in a
stress-free environment. They are bacteria, disease, and pest free. We also add 5-10% extra
crickets for free with every shipment!
Care
Refrigeration: No; crickets should be kept at room temperature.
Life span: They take 6 weeks to grow from a pinhead (baby) to
an adult. Once an adult, they live for 2-3 weeks.
Appearance and texture: Brown with a semi-soft exoskeleton.
They are very lively. Your pet will use its instinctive hunting skills to catch
these critters.
Size: We offer pinheads, 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4",
10% winged, and 1" full grown crickets. We recommend 1/4" crickets for many baby
lizards, including bearded dragons (please read forums and discussion boards for
your specific breed). If you own a bearded dragon, the length of the cricket
should be equal to or less than the length between your bearded dragon's eyes.
Bedding and food: Crickets require more care than other
feeders, but if you provide a good environment, they will live longer and you can purchase larger quantities. We also highly recommend our
cricket odor barrier. We supply a healthy blend of
cricket food that should be used to feed your crickets, and
cricket hydrate that will keep your crickets healthy and hydrated.
You can also add
calcium powder to the crickets just before feeding them to your pet, which provides your pet with extra calcium.
Nutrition: You've probably heard, "You are what you
eat." This is very true when it comes to your pet and its crickets! A nutritious cricket diet for your pet helps keep them healthy and strong. You should also take care with what the crickets eat, since it goes into your pet too. If you only feed your crickets foods such as those made from rice and corn, they will not be nutritious food for your pet. We
recommend using our healthy blend of
cricket food, as it is cheaper and will last longer than fruits and vegetables.
Breeding: While it is possible for patient pet owners to breed
crickets, most find it's not worth the effort, and that regular shipments of crickets, such as through our Carefree Cricket program, are an easier solution. We have many years
experience breeding millions of healthy crickets. Our crickets are
inexpensive and are carefully monitored by professionals to ensure you receive
the best crickets possible.
As with most cricket suppliers, crickets are sold in a measured volume, not
individually counted. You may have some variation on the exact number
depending on the cricket size of the batch. We always ship 3-10% extra crickets
with every order to make sure you get at least the number ordered, so you will usually get more!
